Bastiaan Mol.

/Bastiaan Mol

Bastiaan Mol (Rotterdam, 1954), resident of Delfshaven.

Bastiaan has followed Illustration at the Academy for Applied Arts ‘Roger Avermaete’ in Antwerp (1986-1991). His work is almost always figurative and illustrative. Often bright full colors. Materials have often been used in mixed media. Water colour, gouache, pen + ink, pastels, graphite, and to a lesser extent acrylic and oil paint on canvas.

Recurring subjects are music-inspired portraits, animals (especially birds), fan art and especially the male figure occupies a large place in his oeuvre.

From 2013-2019 53 portraits were painted of Portuguese Fadistas (these are Portuguese Fado singers). Three quarters of these portraits are already hanging on the walls of the relevant Fado singers, but two are in the Fado Museum in Lisbon. This wonderful museum conserves the history of Fado music and thus also preserves the heritage of the famous Fado master Alfredo Marceneiro.

This is an online exhibition and these works are for sale and can be viewed by appointment only.
